Utilites: Outliner

Posted on 28 September 2007 by Christine Lank

I’ve been searching for a simple outline tool for writing and found this little gem, called TKOutline, which happens to be portable. This application is simple to use and is self-contained in a single exe file of 1.2 MB. It exports to text, HTML, OPML and XML.

It features the usual from outlining tools that can’t be found in a typical word processor, such as hiding levels, promoting/demoting and easily moving nodes up and down. This version of TKOutline doesn’t have an undo feature, though, so keep that in mind as you write your outline!

Excellent Nebulus Remake

Posted on 15 September 2007 by Christine Lank

Nebulus or Tower Toppler was a popular platform game from the 1980s where this little green guy named Pogo had to make his way to the top of a series of towers in order to destroy them. Along the way, he had to overcome weird shapes that tried to prevent him from reaching the top. The game was an original concept at the time because Pogo didn’t actually move from the center of the screen; instead, the tower rotated and gave a realistic impression of movement.

This portable remake of the game, called Tower Toppler is a very faithful remake with excellent graphics. It includes a level editor so you can have fun making your own towers. A great little game at only 2 MB!

Available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
